EVENT
Date: 4/14/2007 Location: 3353 Black River Road, Black River. Info: Upon arrival found the western most barn fully involved. There were approximately 360 cows and calves in the barn. One hundred sixty were rescued and 200 perished. Alcona Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Sanborn Twp., South Shore and Lincoln, as well as firefighters from Greenbush, Harrisville, Barton City and the Red Cross. Cause of Fire: Accidental
Date: 4/23/2007 Location: 4676 Black River Road, Black River. Info: Fire started in basement and quickly engulfed the entire structure due to a large hole in the floor and balloon construction. Alcona Fire Department was assisted by Lincoln, Greenbush, Harrisville, South Shore and DNR fire departments. One firefighter was injured while fighting the fire and was taken to Alpena Regional Medical Center.
